Freed from the attic
"Le point de croix", the cross-stitch: for a long time an unstoppable hobby of many people. Large master paintings, landscapes and daily scenes were transformed without mercy into small stitches, both full and half cross stitches,. Hours of embroidery, sitting by wood fire or a coal stove, with needle and thread in supreme peace. There was a time when the embroidery was showing off on our walls, thoroughly framed by craftsmen. Yet, they were sentenced to the attic for decades, in a heartbreakingly cruel way. Fortunately, they have since been freed and can be found at flea markets in, for example, France and the Netherlands. We select the most beautiful ones and take the many nails and staples from their frames, as well as removing the dust and dirt. Once resuscitated they are left to dry, waiting for their new destination. We lovingly make them part of a cushion, combining the embroidery often with contrasting fabrics and giving it a contemporary look.

Bevrijd van de zolder
"Le point du choix", de kruissteek: lange tijd een onstuitbare hobby van vele mensen. Grote meesterschilderijen, landschappen en dagelijkse taferelen werden zonder pardon omgezet in kleine steekjes, zowel in hele als in halve steek. Uren borduren, gezeten bij houtvuur of kolenkachel, met naald en draad in opperste rust. Er was een tijd dat de borduursels pronkten aan onze wanden. Degelijk ingelijst door vakmensen. Toch, hartverscheurend wreed en decennia lang, werden ze veroordeeld tot de zolder.

Gelukkig zijn ze inmiddels bevrijd en terug te vinden op rommelmarkten in bijvoorbeeld Frankrijk en Nederland. Wij selecteren de mooiste en ontdoen ze van hun lijsten met de vele spijkertjes en nietjes, en van stof en vuil.
Herboren liggen ze te drogen, wachtend op hun nieuwe bestemming. Wij maken ze liefdevol tot onderdeel van een jn kussen. Combineren de borduurwerken met, vaak contrasterende, sto en en geven er een eigentijdse uitstraling aan.

Project PomPoms

If you cannot walk for a while because of a sprained ankle, what do you do? You make pompoms, not a few but hundreds. Starting point: to reduce our collection of wool, cotton and synthetic yarns.
Goal: to give a second life to these strands of yarn.
What did it generate? Garlands, cushions and beautiful photographs.

Als je een tijdje niet mag lopen vanwege een zwaar verstuikte enkel wat doe je dan? Je maakt pompoms, niet een paar maar honderden.
Uitgangspunt: onze verzameling van wol, katoen en synthetische garens te reduceren.
Doel: een 2de leven geven aan deze draden.

Project Patches

Patches = knitted and crocheted swatches. Prior to each new knitted model, there is a period of "knitting or crocheting swatches". In some cases it is only 1 swatch, but sometimes 5 or 6 swatches are needed. This results in many transparent plastic storage boxes full of “patches”, every year.
Under the motto of "swatch clearance", we came up with the Project Patches We sorted the pieces on stitches, colors and yarns and made a beautiful composition out of it. We then crocheted these pieces together to create the front piece of a cushion.

Patches = gebreide en gehaakte proeflapjes
Voorafgaand aan elk nieuw gebreid model gaat een periode van “proeflapjes breien of haken”. In sommige gevallen is het maar 1 lapje maar het kan voorkomen dat er wel 5 of 6 lapjes gebreid worden. Dit levert per jaar heel wat doorzichtige plastic opbergdozen vol met “patches” op.
Onder het motto van “proeflapjes opruiming” hebben we het Project Patches bedacht
We sorteerden de lapjes op steken, kleuren en garens en maakten er een mooie compositie van. Vervolgens haakten we deze lapjes aan elkaar zodat een voorkant van een kussen ontstaat.
Voor de achterkant zochten we een mooie stof, en kijk hier het resultaat.
